Indoor Waterparks around Cleveland

Ohio Indoor Waterparks

We all have an idea of what winter looks like in Ohio. You can expect snow, cold and short days during the winter season.

That is why it comes as no surprise that there have been a number of indoor water parks built here. In these waterpark oases, you can forget about the gray skies, cold temperatures and enjoy the heat and sunshine all year long!

There are no indoor waterparks in the city of Cleveland, they are actually located about an hour west in Sandusky, Ohio. Here is where the fun is at! There are 3 themed indoor waterparks to choose from, each with its own style and flair.

Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge was the first indoor waterpark built in Northwest Ohio. It looks like a large hunting lodge and has lots of water fun including:

  • 5 pools
  • 9 waterslides
  • 2 tube slides that are 626 feet in length
  • 4 Story interactive fun center that lets you operate the water
  • Body Slide race
  • Lazy Rivers
  • Outdoor pool (seasonal)

The Great Wolf Lodge and waterpark require you to stay in their hotel or to know a guest. Some weekends require a 2-night minimum stay in order to book. Package deals are available throughout the year, and visitors of guests are required to pay for admission into the waterpark.

Castaway Bay

Castaway Bay is Cedar Point’s indoor waterpark. It is located behind Cedar Point amusement park and has a tropical Caribbean theme. They offer dining, shopping, and of course, water fun every day of the year. They have:

  • An Interactive play area with cargo nets
  • Wave action pool that has 3-foot waves
  • Arcade
  • A number of Waterslides
  • Family Funhouse
  • A “watercoaster” that shoots you uphill!

Cedar Point offers themed packages for their visitors and a number of room styles for your stay there. They have a spa for overworked parents that offers a number of services (extra).

Kalahari Waterpark

The Kalahari Waterpark is the latest waterpark opened in Northwest Ohio. The Kalahari has an African theme and offers overnight accommodations, conference rooms, and a spa on site. Some highlights of their waterpark include:

  • The Flowrider. Simulate surfing on the neverending 5-foot wave. Lessons available
  • Lazy Rivers. There are “no worries” as you relax in these rivers.
  • Water Slides
  • Pools

Unlike Castaway Bay and Great Wolf Lodge, an overnight stay is not required to use their waterpark. They have pricing for all day over evening hours and are sure to be a great time for anyone that visits.

Just because the weather outside is frightful doesn’t mean that you can’t soak in some simulated sunshine, and Sandusky Ohio is the place to do it.
